Pride month

I have not always been on the right side of history on LGBTQ issues. Although I think my university has improved a lot in this area since the the late 1990’s, at that time, it was an easy place for someone like me to be on the wrong side of history. It took several years of life experience and seeing extremism on unrelated issues for me to really come around.

If you would have told me in 1999 that by 2010 I would be marching in the Chicago Pride Parade with my church (and a supportive church at that), I probably would not have believed you. That’s exactly what happened though.

You should be free to be you and have your identity be respected no matter what your profession is, where you were born, or how you think government should be run.
